CARMEL -- Cal State LA's women's team finds itself in the middle of a crowded pack of nationally-ranked teams after a long and rainy day at Quail Lodge Golf Course.
The Golden Eagles are eighth after 36 holes played in windy, rainy and freezing conditions in the Patriot Invitational hosted by Dallas Baptist on Monday. Cal State LA shot rounds of 308 and 313 for a two-round total of 621.
No. 26 Cal State LA is one of nine nationally-ranked teams in the 15-team field.
Harvard leads the tournament with a 36-hole score of 586 after rounds of 289 and 297. No. 6 Cal State San Marcos is second at 594 after rounds of 293 and 301. No. 4 Dallas Baptist is third at 598 after rounds of 299 and 299.
Daniela Andrade led the Golden Eagles through the first two rounds and is 30th overall after rounds of 76 and 79 at the par-71 Quail Lodge Golf Course. She got off to a tremendous start with three birdies in her first five holes.
Morgan Sjoerdsma had the shot of the day, holing out from 170 yards out with a 4-hybrid for an eagle 2 on the par-4 third hole, her final hole of the first round. She added two birdies on par-5 holes in her second round and had three birdies on the day. Sjoerdsma had rounds of 77-79 and is in a tie for 33rd.
Brenna Ozel is also in a tie for 33rd after rounds of 79 and 77 that included 24 pars.
Harley Richardson is in a tie for 36th after rounds of 76 and 81. She had a pair of birdies on par-3 holes, one in each round, to highlight her day.
Joshlyn Ayala is in a tie for 54th after rounds of 84 and 78. She had a pair of birdies on par-3 holes during her second round to highlight her day.
The tournament will conclude with a final round on Tuesday.
