VISTA -- Cal State LA's women's golf team climbed up two spots during the final round of the Fujikura Invitational hosted by Cal State San Marcos at Shadowridge Country Club.

The Golden Eagles moved up from 11th place into a tie for ninth place, making up 15 shots on California Collegiate Athletic Association foe Sonoma State to pull into the tie with the Seawolves. They also made up 10 shots on Texas A&M International in the final round.

Cal State LA shot a round of 316 on Tuesday, giving the Golden Eagles a 54-hole score of 950.

Tournament host Cal State San Marcos won the event with a team score of 896, five shots clear of second-place Rollins and nine shots ahead of third-place Cal State East Bay.

Regan Barton and Diana Delgado, both from Cal State San Marcos, shared medalist honors with 54-hole scores of 2-over-par 218.

Daniela Andrade had the top finish for the Golden Eagles after a final round of 80 left her in a tie for 15th at 14-over-par 230. Lehapi Veikune had the best round of the day for Cal State LA with a 3-over-par 75 and finished in a tie for 40th at 240. She led the team with four birdies on the day.

Carissa Freeman shot a final round of 84 and finished in a tie for 44th with a tournament score of 241, Sarah Amaya shot a final round of 80 and was in a tie for 53rd with a tournament score of 243 and Morgan Sjoerdsma shot a final round of 81 and finished in a tie for 66th with a tournament score of 248.

Cal State LA will return to action next Monday at The Patriot Invitational at The Quail Golf Club in Carmel.
