HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Cal State LA's beach volleyball team enjoyed some success Friday in a pair of matches against Vanguard and Life Pacific.
The Golden Eagles fell to host Vanguard, 4-1, in their first match and then edged Life Pacific, 3-2, in their second match.
Zuhal Cetin and
Tehya Chadwick split their matches at No. 3 pairs and are now 4-2 on the season.
In the opening match, Cetin and Chadwick picked up the Golden Eagles' only point with a 21-16, 18-21, 15-7 win over Vanguard's Reece Fisher and Katie Alexander.
Against Life Pacific,
Jameson Sanders and
Samarah DaCoud beat Lindsey Johnson and Taylor Wilson, 18-21, 21-19, 15-13 at No. 2 pairs,
Rebecca Topete and
Rebeca Marquez beat Mya Castro and Kylie Proctor, 21-8, 21-14 at No. 4 pairs and
Arielle Chandler and
Karina Talavera beat Jocelyn Hernandez and Gracelyn Myhre, 21-17, 22-20 at No. 5 pairs.
The Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday at the same location with matches against Vanguard and Hope International.
