ALAMEDA -- Cal State LA's women's golf team had an impressive showing in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout hosted by Cal State East Bay.

Daniela Andrade had the low round of the day for the Golden Eagles and Cal State LA is in third place after the opening round, just one shot back of co-leaders Cal State East Bay and Biola. The Golden Eagles had a round of 4-over-par 292 and are right on the heels of the hosts and Biola, who both shot 291 at the Corica Park Golf Course.

Andrade had an eagle and three birdies and shot a 2-under-par 70, which is her best round of the season. She is in fourth after the opening round. She chipped in with a sand wedge from about 80 feet away on the par-5 15th hole to highlight her round. 

Harley Richardson shot her best round of the season and is in 10th place after a 1-over-par 73. Richardson had a pair of birdies and was a brilliant 2-under-par over her final 10 holes to climb up the leaderboard.

Defending tournament champion Morgan Sjoerdsma is 13th after an opening-round of 2-over-par 74. She started quickly with birdies on her first two holes of the day and she finished strong with a birdie on her 17th hole of the day - the par-4 second hole - to pull to within six shots of the lead.

Carissa Freeman was fourth on the team and is in 22nd overall after a 3-over-par 75. She had three birdies in her first seven holes to offset a double-bogey on her third hole of the day and she finished well with another birdie and a par to finish her round.

Joshlyn Ayala is in 51st place after an opening round of 79 that included three birdies, including one on her final round of the day.

Lehapi Veikune, competing as an individual for Cal State LA, matched her best round of the season with an even-par 72 that included two birdies and 14 pars. She was 1-under-par over her final nine holes of the day.

The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with the final round beginning at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
