Golden Eagles See Win Streak Come To An End

CHICO -- Cal State LA's women's basketball team got a career performance from Sofia Fidelus in a California Collegiate Athletic Association game at Chico State on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles were 10-of-15 from the free-throw line. Chico State shot 38.2 percent for the game (26-of-68) and was 7-of-19 from 3-point range. The Wildcats were 17-of-26 from the free-throw line.

Chico State had a 50-33 rebounding edge and committed 15 turnovers to 11 for Cal State LA.

The Golden Eagles fell into an early 7-1 hole and never led in the game. A layup by Fidelus got the Golden Eagles ato within 11-10 and a free throw by Fuentes to close the first quarter made it 13-11.

Chico State took command in the second quarter, shooting 60 percent and outscoring the Golden Eagles, 28-17, to take a 41-28 lead at halftime.

The Wildcats led by as many as 16 points in the third quarter, but a jumper by Jackson, a pair of free throws by Buggs and a layup by Asiasi got the Golden Eagles to within 10 points at 56-46 entering the fourth period.

Fidelus opened the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer to make it 56-49, but the Wildcats scored the next nine points to put the game out of reach.
