AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Cal State LA's women's golf team had a strong finish to a long day of golf at the WT Regional Preview.

The Golden Eagles are sixth out of 16 teams in a stacked field of potential NCAA Tournament qualifiers after the first two of three rounds of the 54-hole tournament. Cal State LA had rounds of 300 and 292 to sit in sixth place, just nine shots out of the lead held by fellow California Collegiate Athletic Association program Cal State San Marcos. The Golden Eagles' second round of 292 was the second-best round of the afternoon.

Cal State San Marcos had a two-round total of 583 to take a one-shot lead over West Texas A&M and a two-shot advantage over UT Tyler. Dallas Baptist and St. Mary's are tied for fourth at 586 and Cal State LA is right behind at 592. A total of 16 teams are in the field, including five from the CCAA. Following Cal State San Marcos and Cal State LA are Sonoma State (13th), Cal State East Bay (14th) and Cal State Monterey Bay (15th).

Morgan Sjoerdsma had the top Cal State LA performance on Monday and is in 12th place with a score of 4-over-par 146. After opening with a round of 76, Sjoerdsma recorded a 1-under-par 70 to climb up the leaderboard.

Joshlyn Ayala was next at 6-over-par 148. She had rounds of 73 and 75 and is in 17th place after 36 holes.

Daniela Andrade and Harley Richardson are next at 8-over-par 150 and part of a tie for 24th place. Andrade had rounds of 76 and 74, while Richardson had back-to-back rounds of 75.

Newcomer Brenna Ozel bounced back brilliantly from an opening round of 82 to fire a 2-over-par 73 that was the team's second-best round of the afternoon. She is in a tie for 50th.

The two-day tournament will conclude on Tuesday.
