Golden Eagles Fall To Biola On Senior Day

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team came up short in its final home match of the season, but the Golden Eagles still enjoyed a Senior Day sendoff for two popular players.

The Golden Eagles fell to Biola, 7-0, after an emotional Senior Day celebration for Alexandra Hincu and Sakakura Kurokawa, who played their final matches at Cal State LA on Tuesday. Both Hincu and Kurokawa were key players for the Golden Eagles.

Hincu played for Cal State LA over the past two seasons, while Kurokawa joined the program for the 2019-20 season. Kurokawa has earned several academic honors during her time at Cal State LA.

The two seniors played together as the No. 2 doubles team on Tuesday and fell to Biola's Colbeyshae Emery and Lilly McNeill, 6-0. Cal State LA's Rochelle Suarez and Courtlyn Lam beat Biola's Kailee Mazzeo and Isabella Chavarria, 6-1, at No. 3 doubles and the doubles point was decided at No. 1 doubles, where Cal State LA's Sarah Olmos and Hideka Takamura dropped a hard-fought set to Alexandria Mann and Brooke Fager, 6-4.

Biola then won all six singles contests.

Olmos was involved in the best singles match of the day and fell just short against McNeill, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 2 singles. Lea Rolland just missed sending her match to a third set in a hard-fought 6-1, 7-6 (4) loss to Mann.

Takamura fell to Emery, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1 singles, Hincu fell to Mazzeo at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1, Suarez fell to Fager at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-3 and Summer Roybal fell to Chavarria, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.
