LONG BEACH -- Cal State LA's beach volleyball team competed Saturday in a pair of back-to-back matches against Long Beach State.
The Golden Eagles had some strong performances in two 5-0 losses against the No. 7 Long Beach State. Cal State LA fell to 2-10, while Long Beach State improved to 24-7.
In the first match,
Emily Elliott and
Ashley Dittmann fell to the Beach's Taylor Hagenah and Malia Gementera, 21-13, 21-17 at No. 1 pairs,
Shelby Grubbs and
Haley Roundtree fell to Julia Westby and Natalie Glenn, 21-9, 21-19 at No. 2 pairs,
Zuhal Cetin and
Tehya Chadwick fell to Christine Deroos and Megan Wideneer, 21-8, 21-10 at No. 3 pairs, Samarah DeCoud and
Jameson Sanders fell to Emily Sparks and Haley Carrington, 21-11, 21-7 at No. 4 pairs and
Rebecca Topete and
Juliana Speiski fell to Kate Stoughton and Livi Narancich, 21-15, 21-10 at No. 5 pairs.
In the second match, Elliott and Dittmann fell to Hagenah and Gementera, 21-16, 21-14, Grubbs and Roundtree fell to Glenn and Westby, 21-10, 21-11, Cetin and Chadwick fell to Carrington and Deroos, 21-3, 21-13, DaCoud and Sanders fell to Sparks and Widener, 21-6, 21-10 and Topete and Speiski fell to Stoghton and Narancich, 21-7, 21-14.
