Golden Eagles Enjoy Some Good Times On Thursday

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team enjoyed a beautiful day on the courts Thursday with sunny skies, pleasant conditions and, even better, a victory.

There were lots of smiles after the Golden Eagles completed a 7-0 win over Chaminade at the Cal State LA Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (2-12), despite still battling some injuries, won for the first time at home this season and put an end to a frustrating and lengthy losing skid. The Golden Eagles got strong performances from all three doubles teams to pick up the doubles point and then swept the six singles contests over the Silverswords (0-9).

The Golden Eagles got the day off to a promising start with 6-0 wins at each of the three doubles spots. Hideka Takamura and Sarah Olmos beat Berylin Lau and Jordyn Luna at No. 1 doubles, Courtlyn Lam and Rochelle Suarez beat Kylie Ye and Kirra Carvalho at No. 2 doubles and Alexandra Hincu and Lea Rolland beat Anciane Miguel and Jasmin Matos at No. 3 doubles.

Cal State LA then took all six singles contests in straight sets.

Takamura beat Lau at No. 1 singles, 6-3, ,6-0, Olmos beat Luna at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1, Hincu beat Ye at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1, Suarez beat Sydney Danielson at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0, Rolland beat Selena Buttery, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 singles and Summer Roybal beat Miguel, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.

Cal State LA will return to action on Tuesday, April 2, at Biola.
