LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis wasn't at full strength on Friday and the Golden Eagles fell short against one of the PacWest Conference's top teams.
Missing top-three player
Sakura Kurokawa, the Golden Eagles dropped the doubles point and then all six singles contests in a 7-0 loss to Point Loma Friday at the Cal State LA Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (1-8) was playing its first match in 10 days.
Lea Rolland was involved in the tightest match of the day as the first set went to a tiebreaker before Point Loma's Anna Pallencaoe prevailed, 7-6, 6-3, at No. 5 singles.
Hideka Takamura fell to Amanda Letzring at No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-0,
Sarah Olmos fell to Thelma Sepulveda at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2,
Alexandra Hincu fell at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0, to Arianna Audelo,
Rochelle Suarez fell to Quin Brady at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2 and
Summer Roybal fell to Emely Valencia at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles, Olmos and Takamura were involved in a tight match with Sepulveda and Audelo at No. 1 doubles, trailing 4-3 when the doubles point was clinched.
Courtlyn Lam and Suarez fell at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, to Letzring and Brady, while Rolland and Hincu fell at No. 3 doubles, 6-3, to Pallencaoe and Valencia.
Cal State LA will return to action on Monday with a home match against Colorado Mesa at 3 p.m.
