Cal State LA then got back on track in the second half. A 3-pointer by Rones gave the Golden Eagles a 40-39 lead and a tip-in by Hodges and a layup by Asiasi made it 44-39 and the Golden Eagles led the rest of the way. Buggs hit a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer to extend the lead to 54-41 and Cal State LA took a 54-47 lead into the fourth quarter.

A layup by Hodges and a three-point play by Asiasi pushed the lead to 59-47 early in the fourth quarter and a 3-pointer by Rones made it 64-49. Stanislaus State got to within 66-58, but Fuentes hit a 3-pointer and Hodges made a basket to make it 71-58 with four minutes remaining.
