BOULDER CITY, NEV. -- Cal State LA's women's golf team got a record-breaking round from
Joshlyn Ayala to highlight a low-scoring day at the National Preview at the Boulder City Golf Club.
Ayala shot a new program-record 5-under-par 67 in the second of two rounds on Monday for a Cal State LA team competing against some of the top teams in the nation on the course that will host the 2025 NCAA Division II Championships.

Morgan Sjoerdsma are tied for 15th after 36 holes with scores of 4-under-par 140. Sjoerdsma had 11 birdies on the day, which was the third-most in the tournament, including seven in an opening-round 68, that matched the program's previous record.
Cal State LA is in ninth place after the first two rounds of the 54-hole tourney with a 36-hole score of 8-over-par 584. The Golden Eagles had rounds of 293 and 291.
The Golden Eagles are just one shot back of eighth-place Cal State East Bay, which is at 583 after rounds of 291 and 292.
Cal State San Marcos of the California Collegiate Athletic Association leads the tourney at 27-under-par 549 that included a remarkable 18-under-par 270 in the second round.
Cal State Monterey Bay is the other CCAA program in the field and is 13th with a total of 613.
Ayala had one of two eagles that Cal State LA had on Monday. She recorded the eagle on the par-5 16th hole in her opening round, helping her to a 1-over-par 73. She was able to carry that momentum into her second round when she had six birdies over the first 14 holes.
The 67 is Ayala's first round under par during her Cal State LA career and easily surpassed her previous best round of even-par 72.
Sjoerdsma had rounds of 68 and 72, pouring in 11 birdies on the day, including seven in her opening-round. She had to battle through a pair of triple-bogeys, one in each round, that kept her from one of the top finishes of the day. The 11 birdies are third among the 74 tournament participants.
Daniela Andrade is in a tie for 51st at 149 after rounds of 73 and 76. She had six birdies during her first two rounds.
Brenna Ozel is in a tie for 61st at 155 after rounds of 79-76. She had two birdies in her second round.
Carissa Freeman, competing as an individual is also at 155 after rounds of 78 and 77. She had ffour birdies on the day, including three in the second round.
Harley Richardson had the second of Cal State LA's two eagles on the day. She got the eagle on the par-5 13th hole during her opening round. She is in a tie for 67th at 158 after rounds of 81 and 77.
The 54-hole tournament will conclude with the final round on Tuesday.
