TUCSON, ARIZONA -- Cal State LA's women's basketball opened its three-game exhibition schedule against NCAA Division I competition at the University of Arizona on Tuesday night.
The Golden Eagles were tied with the Wildcats after one period before Arizona pulled away for an 82-53 win in McHale Center. Cal State LA enjoyed an 11-0 run in the opening period and led at one point, 11-6. The Golden Eagles trailed 47-33 at halftime.
Gabriella Rones had a team-high 12 points for the Golden Eagles, while
Amaya Fuentes had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Skylar Jones had 16 points for the Wildcats, while Jada Williams had 15 points.

Sofia Fidelus and
Kyara Walter had eight points each for the Golden Eagles.
Cal State LA shot 50 percent in the opening period and was 20-of-46 for the game (43.5 percent). The Golden Eagles were 7-of-23 from 3-point range and made 6-of-11 free-throw tries. Arizona shot 54.2 percent for the game (32-of-59) and was 3-of-11 from 3-point range. The Wildcats were 15-of-21 from the free-throw line.
The Golden Eagles were hurt by 30 turnovers, while Arizona committed just 14.
Cal State LA will return to action on Wednesday night with an exhibition game at Stanford.
