LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's track and field team competed well Saturday at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational at UCLA.
Eden Hahn finished 13th in the 400 meters with a good time of 58.37 in her first time running the event. She now has the team's fastest time this season in the 100, 200 and 400.Â
"After coming back from a small set back, opening up in my first 400 of the season felt great! I'm excited to get back to the drawing board and put my focus back on the 100 and 200 meters," Hahn said. "Everyone was very supportive and excited to run today. There were some new PR's and there were some learning experiences, but everyone stayed positive through it all. This season has been pretty cloudy and raining so everyone was eager to finally run in the sun!"
Destiny Moedano ran her best time of the season while finishing 19th in the 800 with a time of 2:17.95.
Riyanna Jackson was 10th in the 400 hurdles with a time of 72.37 and
Vanessa Monrreal was third in the 1,500 with a time of 6:06.34.
Isis Johnson was eighth in the long jump with a mark of 17-6.25, which was her best of the season by more than a foot.
"The last two days of competition were filled with improvements. Both coaches and athletes have been putting in a lot of work and we are starting to see some nice improvements," Cal State LA head coach
Tina Fernandes said. "We have a very talented group of student athletes; the key is patience, consistency, determination, communicating and understanding the process. The biggest hurdle is putting in the work to bring everything together. We are starting to see the improvement, it's so awesome when things start coming together."
Cal State LA will return to action next Friday and Saturday at the Vince O'Boyle Track and Field Classic at UC Irvine.
