ARCATA -- Cal State LA's
Alexander Sokol earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honorable mention when the conference's All-CCAA team was announced by the CCAA on Tuesday.
The teams were selected by the conference's men's basketball head coaches.
Sokol, in his first year with the program after starting his career at Cal State Northridge, was seventh in the CCAA in scoring with a 15.3 points per game average. He was also tied for first in the conference in 3-point field goals per game (3.2), third in 3-point field goal percentage (42 percent), and third in free-throw percentage (87.1 percent).
Sokol finished the season in style, setting a new program single-game record with nine 3-pointers on his way to a season-high 29 points in the Golden Eagles' season-ending 86-62 win at Sonoma State. Sokol had five games with 20-or-more points and his 68 successful 3-pointers are No. 4 all-time on Cal State LA's single-season list.
Malik Duffy of Chico State was the conference's Player of the Year, Darius Lubom of Cal State San Bernardino was the Defensive Player of the Year, Brandon Knapper of Cal State San Bernardino was the Newcomer of the Year, Dane Erikstrup of Cal Poly Pomona was the Freshman of the Year and Andy Newman was the Coach of the Year.
