LA JOLLA -- Cal State LA's women's basketball team ran into a No. 2 UC San Diego team that was intent on remaining undefeated.

The Golden Eagles managed only 11 first-half points and fell to the California Collegiate Athletic Association leaders, 73-48, Saturday night in RIMAC Arena. Cal State LA (8-15, 5-14 CCAA) trailed 18-5 after one quarter and 40-11 at halftime. The game was in stark contrast to the first meeting between the two schools when Cal State LA opened up leads as large as 13 points in the first half and held an eight-point halftime lead over UC San Diego (22-0, 18-0 CCAA).

Cal State LA shot just 29.7 percent for the game (19-of-64) and made just 1-of-14 from 3-point range. UC San Diego shot 40.7 percent for the game (24-of-59) and made 11-of-29 from behind the 3-point arc. The Golden Eagles were 9-of-10 from the free-throw line, while the Tritons were 14-of-23. Cal State LA was out-rebounded, 50-35, and committed 12 turnovers to 13 for the Tritons.

The Tritons then scored the first 10 points of the second quarter before a basket by Rachael DiRegolo.

Cal State LA did close well and scored the last 10 points of the game, six coming from Delapina and four from Jo Ana Adams.
