Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Golden Eagles Drop Another Heartbreaker

SEASIDE -- Cal State LA's women's soccer team was unable to break out of its frustrating string of tough results.

The Golden Eagles allowed only one shot on goal on Friday, but it turned out to be the only goal in Cal State Monterey Bay's 1-0 California Collegiate Athletic Association win Friday night at the CSUMB Soccer Complex. Cal State LA (5-5-1, 2-4-1) is now 0-4-1 over its last five games with one loss coming in overtime, another coming with seconds left in double overtime and the other on Friday in a game where the Golden Eagles allowed the game-winner in the 84th minute.

The only goal of the game came courtesy of Alexandra Diaz with an assist from Sophia Zertuche for Cal State Monterey Bay (8-4-1, 3-4 CCAA).

Cal State LA had a 9-2 edge in shots for the game, including a 6-0 advantage in the first half. The Golden Eagles had a 5-1 edge in shots on goal and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Paulina Chaidez had three shots, all on goal, for the Golden Eagles. Natalie Reynoso and Yaqualin Garcia had the other shots on goal.

Anahie Duran had a first-half attempt hit the post and not go in.

Cal State LA will return to action on Sunday with a game at Cal State East Bay beginning at 2 p.m.
