ARCATA -- Cal State LA's women's basketball team was in striking distance after one half of play Thursday night at Humboldt State, but went ice cold in the second half.
The Golden Eagles managed only 18 points in the second half and only six points in the fourth quarter and fell to the 'Jacks, 66-41, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association contest. Cal State LA (6-7, 3-6 CCAA) lost its fourth straight game and had its lowest offensive output of the season.
Alyssa Fisher led the Golden Eagles with 14 points, while
Madison Adams had nine points and five rebounds.
Chiderah Uzowuru had six points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Isamar Conde had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead Humboldt State (7-5).
Cal State LA shot just 29.3 percent for the game (17-of-58) and was just 2-of-9 from 3-point range. Humboldt State was 22-of-56 from the floor and made 9-of-29 from 3-point range. Cal State LA was 5-of-8 from the free-throw line, while the 'Jacks were 13-of-14. Cal State LA had a 40-34 rebounding edge, but committed 19 turnovers to 10 for the 'Jacks.
The Golden Eagles started well and took a 3-0 lead on a three-point play by Fisher. A 3-pointer by Adams gave the Golden Eagles their biggest lead, 6-2. The Golden Eagles then fell behind, 10-8, before a late jumper byÂ
Christine Delapina tied it after one period at 10-10.
A 3-pointer by Fisher tied it at 21-21 with 2:24 to go in the second quarter and two free throws by Adams cut a deficit to 24-23 and a basket by
Jo Ana Adams cut the margin to 37-31 before the 'Jacks opened up a 45-35 lead after three periods.
Madison Adams scored the first basket of the fourth period to make it 45-37, but the 'Jacks responded with a 12-4 run to extend the lead.
Jolene Robinson made it 57-41 with 5:41 to go, but the Golden Eagles didn't score again.
Cal State LA will return to action on Saturday with a road game at Chico State.Â
