IRVINE -- Cal State LA's men's soccer team had a nice bounce-back effort in a non-conference win over Concordia Saturday afternoon at Eagles Field.
The No. 18 Golden Eagles got three goals from
Robin Lindahl and
Alexander Brems made two saves in Cal State LA's 3-0 win. Cal State LA (3-1), coming off a narrow 2-1 loss to No. 4 Simon Fraser, on Thursday, struck for a pair of goals in the first half and added one late to complete the victory.
Lindahl, in his second season with the Golden Eagles, recorded the 27th hat trick in program history and the first since
Damian Roszczyk scored three goals in a 4-3 win at Chico State in a first-round California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament game last season.
Lindahl now has a team-leading four goals on the season.
Cal State LA had a 15-7 advantage in shots, while Concordia (0-3) had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Lindahl notched his first goal of the game in the 15th minute.
Eddie Leon got the assist and Lindahl knocked a shot to the low left corner of the net for the score.
He made it 2-0 in the 29th minute with an assist from
David Elizaga, who led the team in assists last season. Elizaga sent a cross into the box from the right side of the field and Lindahl knocked it in for a two-goal lead.
Lindahl completed his hat trick in the 84th minute with an assist from
Leonardo Nogueira. The scoring play started with a cross from the left side by Nogueira that was finished nicely by Lindahl.
Brems made one save in each half to record Cal State LA's third shutout of the season.
The Golden Eagles will begin CCAA play on Friday with a game at Chico State.
