NAMPA, ID -- Cal State LA's volleyball team found the going tough Thursday night in the opener of the D2 West Region Showcase.
The Golden Eagles never could get any momentum against a talented Northwest Nazarene team and fell to the Crusaders, 25-19, 25-18, 25-17 Thursday in Johnson Sports Center. Cal State LA (2-3) hit at a .128 clip to .287 for the Crusaders.
Northwest Nazarene (5-0) had a 42-37 edge in kills and a 6-3 edge in blocks. The Crusaders had the match's only three aces.
Karla Santos had 11 kills and nine digs for the Golden Eagles, while
Alejandra Negron had nine kills and eight digs.
Kendra Bodine had a match-high 15 kills for Northwest Nazarene.
Jeshmarie Suarez had a team-high nine digs for the Golden Eagles, while
Daisy Crenshaw had seven kills and one block.
Nicole Efseaff had 25 set assists and three digs.
Cal State LA will continue play in the tournament with a pair of matches on Friday against Hawaii Pacific and Dominican.
