POMONA -- Cal State LA's women's soccer team showed some admirable resiliency in a well-deserved tie at Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday in Pomona.

Cal State LA trailed at halftime, 2-1, despite being out-shot, 13-5, in the opening 45 minutes an d the Golden Eagles began to assert themselves in the second period. A shot by Chaidez was blocked and an attempt by Victoria Arredondo went wide in the 59th minute, but Cal State LA kept the pressure on and tied the game on a Cal Poly Pomona own goal in the 61st minute.

The Golden Eagles had some chances in the latter stages of the second half and Ashli Villalobos and Holly Abdelkader had shots saved by Ricki Ives in the 76th and 80th minutes.

The Golden Eagles then kept their poise as Cal Poly Pomona started the first overtime period with a corner kick and five unsuccessful shots. Chaidez sent a shot wide in the 99th minute for the Golden Eagles.
