LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's men's basketball team used a sizzling first-half shooting performance to post a 99-91 win over Identity Hoops International on Saturday at University Gym.

The Golden Eagles hit 13 of their 19 attempts from 3-point range while racing to a 57-43 halftime lead. Cal State LA built leads as large as 20 points in the second half, had the margin sliced to two points with eight minutes to go and then righted the ship down the stretch.

Khalil Williams led the way with 22 points and seven rebounds, hitting 8-of-11 field-goal attempts including both of his attempts from 3-point range. Garrett Carter had 15 points and three assists, Sequan Walker had 14 points and Jalyn Pennie had 11 points and five rebounds.

Identity Hoops International was led by Eli Baker's 21 points and 11 rebounds. Shawn Stewart and Jamal Shabaz had 14 points each.

The Golden Eagles had great depth offensively on Saturday. Sean Estes and Kenneth Cyprian had nine points each, while Grant Arthur and Brandon Hitchman had seven points each.

Cal State LA shot 52.3 percent for the game (34-of-65), including 50 percent from 3-point range (14-of-28). The Golden Eagles were 17-of-26 from the free-throw line.

Identity Hoops shot 49.2 percent for the game (31-of-63) and 40 percent from 3-point range (8-of-20). Identity Hoops was 21-of-30 from the free-throw line.

Cal State LA was out-rebounded, 35-34, and forced 14 turnovers while committing 12. Estes, Kikuchi Bailey and Williams had two steals each.

Cal State LA will open the regular season on Friday with a game against Holy Names at California Baptist's Lancers Tip-Off Challenge.
