LOS ANGELES – Cal State LA's women's soccer team had a much better performance on Sunday, but the final result was the same.
The Golden Eagles had an edge in possession time and shots, but Cal State San Bernardino scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 decision in a California Collegiate Athletic Association contest at Jesse Owens Track. Cal State LA (6-7-2, 5-5 CCAA), which started the conference season with five straight victories, has now lost five straight games. Cal State San Bernardino (8-5-1, 7-2-1 CCAA), on the other hand, won its sixth straight game and sits in third in the conference with 22 points.
Cal State LA remains sixth in the conference with two games remaining.
The top six teams will qualify for the CCAA Championship Tournament. Cal State LA won the 2014 regular-season and tournament titles.
Cal State LA had a 14-7 advantage in shots and a big 8-1 edge in corner kicks, but was unable to score. The Golden Eagles' possession edge led to 20 Cal State San Bernardino fouls.
The Golden Eagles had the best chance in the first half when Marie Lou Larose made a strong run down the left side and delivered a beautiful cross into the box.
Anahie Duran, running at full speed, was able to get a foot on it, but the shot went just wide of an open net in the 28
th minute.
Cal State San Bernardino got the only goal of the game in the 50

Adriana Maldonado dove to deflect it away, but Rachael Figg was in the right spot and the right time and shot the ball into the net from about 10 yards away.
Cal State LA continued to press down by a goal, but Cal State San Bernardino did a good job of limiting high-quality scoring chances.
Zarette Munoz-Aguilar had the last chance for the Golden Eagles after a foul just outside of the box in the waning seconds, but her hard shot sailed high.
Munoz-Aguilar had a match-high five shots, including two on goal. Blance Adame had three shots, while Larose took two.

Cal State LA will return to action on Thursday at Humboldt State in a game scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. start.
