The Golden Eagles never led and were tied only once at 2-2 after a basket by Hall. Cal State San Bernardino promptly scored the next seven points and never looked back.

The Golden Eagles were down, 21-7, and closed to within single digits after a layup by Dushon Carter made it 28-19. A 3-pointer by Joshua Munzon pulled the Golden Eagles to within 30-22, but a basket by Casey Oldemoppen made it 32-22 at halftime.

Cal State L.A. got to within six points early in the second half after a tip-in by McPhail, a layup by McPhail and a jumper by Aaron Alston made it 36-30 with 17 minutes to play. A 3-pointer by Chris Martin kept the Golden Eagles within 41-33 with 15 minutes to go, but the Coyotes scored the next seven points and led by double-digit margins the rest of the way.
