Cal State L.A. had its best start to a game this season, scoring the first 17 points of the contest on its way to a 27-point halftime lead.

Knox scored the first basket of the game and Okungbowa scored the next four points to make it 6-0. Ali Orlich made a 3-pointer and Bree Parsons scored back-to-back baskets to stretch the lead to 13-0 before a pair of free throws by DiMarco and a basket by Okungbowa made it 17-0 four minutes into the game. The Gators scored their first basket 4:21 into the game and eventually cut the margin to 12 points, 26-14, with 6:16 remaining in the half.

The Golden Eagles, though, closed the half on a 17-2 run to break the game open. DiMarco started the surge with a 3-pointer, Knox scored the next three points on a free throw and a basket and DiMarco hit another 3-pointer to make it 35-14. A basket by Greene made it 41-14 and, after the Gators scored to break a 15-0 run, Hall hit a pair of free throws to make it 43-16 at halftime.
