Cal State L.A. also missed out on a free-throw opportunity late in regulation and saw the game end when
Jameiz Terrell's basket with one second left in overtime was only worth two points because her toes were on the 3-point line.
The Golden Eagles never trailed in regulation, but could not recover after Cal State East Bay scored the first six points of overtime.
Jazzi Johnson had 21 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out in overtime.
Brionna Baker had 10 points and 10 rebounds, while

The Golden Eagles took their largest lead of the game, 41-27, after a basket by
Sonia Miller with 15:55 remaining. The Pioneers steadily chipped away at the deficit and closed to within one at 58-57 after a basket by Nelson with 1:42 remaining and finally tied it with one free throw by MacMillan with seven seconds left. MacMillan missed the second free throw and Domingues was then fouled with two seconds remaining. She missed the front end of a one-and-one and the game went into overtime.
The Pioneers scored the first six points of the extra period and never relinquished the lead. Cal State L.A. pulled to within two points twice, at 66-64, after a basket by Johnson with 1:38 to go and at 68-66 after a basket by Baker off an assist by
Stacie Whitley with 11 seconds left.
The Golden Eagles then had to foul and, after Cal State East Bay hit one of two free throws to boost its lead to three points with nine seconds to go, Terrell got off what the Golden Eagles had hoped would be a game-tying 3-pointer, only to see the basket worth just two points, ending the game.
Cal State L.A. will return to action on Saturday with a game at conference-leading UC San Diego.
