TURLOCK -- Cal State L.A.'s women's soccer team held on for a big California Collegiate Athletic Association victory Friday night.
The Golden Eagles got goals from
Stacey Rodwell and
Ann Marie Tangorra and beat Cal State Stanislaus, 2-1, Friday night at Warrior Field. Cal State L.A. (6-2, 5-2 CCAA) picked up its second consecutive road victory.
Cal State Stanislaus (7-2, 5-2 CCAA) is leading the CCAA North Division. Cal State L.A. remains one point behind CCAA South Division leader Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Cal State L.A. got a goal from Rodwell just four minutes into the game following a corner kick.
The Golden Eagles held that edge until Cal State Stanislaus (7-2, 5-2 CCAA) was awarded a penalty kick just 1:41 into the second half. Marissa Dunaway took the kick and tied the game at 1-1.
That's where the score stood until Tangorra scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 74th minute.
Alex Conley picked up an assist on the game-winner.
The Golden Eagles' defense took it from there, limiting Cal State Stanislaus without a shot on goal for the remainder of the game. Defenders
