Summary

Biography

2019: Competed in two meets for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Had a best time of 24:14.26 over 5,000 meters at the Coyote Challenge on Sept. 21. Was off to a strong start in her second season with the track and field program in the spring (2020) when the season was halted after three meets. Had the team's best mark in the 400 hurdles with a time of 65.49 at the Long Beach State Beach Opener on March 7. Also ran during the indoor season and had a best time of 65.65 in the 400 at the NAU Friday Night Duals on Jan. 10. Was part of two relay teams that moved into Cal State LA’s all-time top-10. She was part of a distance medley relay team that is now No. 7 all-time with a time of 13:09.13 and a 4x400 relay team that is No. 8 with a time of 3:57.34.

2018: Did not compete in cross country in the fall, but began her Cal State LA track and field career in the spring (2019). Placed eighth in the 400 hurdles in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships and was fourth as part of the 4x400 relay team. Had a best time of 64.45 in the 400 hurdles.

At Cerritos College: Placed 10th in the heptathlon in the Southern California Championships with 3,134 points as a freshman in 2016. Finished seventh in the 400 hurdles at the South Coast Conference Championships in 2017 with a time of 68.99.

At El Rancho High School: Helped the team win Del Rio League championships during her sophomore and senior years. Earned the “Blue Pride” award as a senior. Voted the Most Valuable Teammate as a junior and went undefeated in league competition in the hurdles that season. Spent four years on the track and field team and three years on the volleyball team.

Personal: Daughter of Thomas and Zulema Herrera. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys working out, traveling, meeting new people and creating memories. Lists catching people in the 4x400 relay as her most exciting experience in sports. Notes she wants to become a veterinarian because she loves animals.
