Cal State LA Athletics

2019: Competed for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall and ran in four races. Had a best time of 21:50.54 over 5,000 meters at the Coyote Challenge on Sept. 21. Returned to competition for Cal State LA's outdoor track and field team in the spring before the 2020 season was halted. Had a best time of 2:37.27 in the 800 meters at the Cal State LA Invitational on Feb. 29. For her career, had best times of 2:22.40 in the 800, 5:18.45 in the 1,500 and 19:40.82 in the 5,000.

2018: Did not compete for the cross country team in the fall and was a redshirt. Also did not compete for the track and field team in the spring (2019).

2017: Was one of the top runners on the cross country team. Competed in all seven competitions for the Golden Eagles. Was the team’s No. 2 runner at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships and finished 76^th with a time of 23:57.7 over 6,000 meters. Was the team’s No. 5 runner at the NCAA West Regionals and was 168^th with a time of 24:44.1. Was one of the top distance runners for the Golden Eagles in her first year with the track and field program (2018). Had best times of 2:22.40 in the 800, 5:18.45 in the 1,500 and 19:40.82 in the 5,000. Finished 17^th in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships in the 800.

At Cerritos College: Was the team’s No. 1 runner at the state championships while leading the Falcons to a 13^th-place team finish.

At Downey High School: Was on the cross country and track and field teams for four years. Was named the team captain.

Personal: Daughter of Sergio and Ernestina Velasco. Majoring in computer science. Enjoys drawing.
