Summary

Biography

2019: Competed in two events for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Had a best time of 28:00.41 over 5,000 meters at the Coyote Challenge on Sept. 21. Competed well for the Golden Eagles in her fourth year with the Golden Eagles' track and field program before the season was halted after three meets in the spring (2020). Had a best time of 15.29 in the 100 meters at the Cal State LA Invitational on Feb. 29. For her career, had best marks of 14.68 in the 100, 31.59 in the 200, 74.40 in the 400 and 17.49 in the 100 hurdles.

2018: Competed well for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Ran in four races. Finished 107th in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships with a time of 33:29.7 over 6,000 meters. Ran for a third season with the Golden Eagles’ track and field team in the spring (2019). Placed 18th in the 100 hurdles in the CCAA Championships. Had best times of 17.74 in the 100 hurdles and 14.68 in the 100 meters. Earned a 2019 CCAA Spring All-Academic Award.

2017: Competed for Cal State LA’s track and field team for a second straight season in the spring (2018). Had a best mark of 17.49 in the 100 hurdles. Earned a 2017-18 CCAA All-Academic Award.

2016: Had a promising first year with the Golden Eagles in track and field in the spring (2017). Had best marks of 18.03 in the 100-meter hurdles, 14.94 in the 100, 31.59 in the 200 and 74.40 in the 400.

At North Salinas High School: Competed in track and field and soccer. Earned a Scholar-Athlete Award for having a grade point average above 3.50.

Personal: Daughter of Elias Mejia and Maria Chavez. Majoring in exercise science. Enjoys hiking and photography of landscapes. Lists at the end of CCAA events when all the conference schools have a small dance party together as her most exciting experiences in sports. Notes she has been a resident assistant for Housing Services at Cal State LA from 2017-19 and says she loves to eat fries and nachos.
