Summary

Biography

2022-23: Had another outstanding season in her final year with the program. Was the team’s No. 2 golfer. Competed in nine tournaments and had a scoring average of 78.28. Had her first top-10 finish after placing ninth in the Nick Turner Invitational. Shot a 77 and the tournament was shortened to one round due to weather. Shot her best round of the season with a 75 in the second round of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships. Placed 16th in the conference after rounds of 80, 75 and 82 for a total of 237. Also had a round of 75 while placing 11th at the Sonoma State Fall Invitational with a 36-hole total of 155. Shot a career-best 36-hole score of 154 after rounds of 77 and 77 while placing 30th at the Nick Turner Invitational. Earned Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar honors for the first time. Also earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators for a first time. Earned a 2022-23 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award. Also earned 2022-23 CCAA All-Academic honors and 2023 CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition. For her career, competed in 20 tournaments and a total of 40 rounds. Had a scoring average of 78.85.

2021-22: Had a sensational first season of competition for the Golden Eagles and was one of the team’s top golfers. Competed in 10 tournaments and had a scoring average of 79.32. Was third on the team in scoring. Had her best round on Day 3 of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships, firing a 75 to help Cal State LA finish second in the conference. Finished 18th overall in the tournament with a 54-hole score of 238. Shot 11 rounds under 80. Had a final round 76 to equal her best 36-hole total of 155 at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic on April 2. Also shot a 155 at the Visit Stockton Invitational on Feb. 14-15 and shot 156 in a dual match with Cal State San Marcos on Oct. 24 and in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Feb. 28 – March 1. Earned 2021-22 CCAA All-Academic honors and 2022 CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition.

2020-21: Earned CCAA 2021 Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition. Team did not compete due to COVID-19.

At Santa Barbara City College: Was the team’s Most Valuable Player in 2019. Finished fourth in the CCCAA State Finals at Morro Bay after shooting rounds of 74-74. Also finished fourth in the Western State Conference and sixth in Southern California. Helped the Vaqueros to a second-place finish in the conference tournament and a seventh-place finish in the state tournament. Shot a low round of 1-under-par 70.

At Prime International School: Competed in tournaments in Nepal and began entering competitions at the age of 11.

Personal: Daughter of Pasang and Kalpana Sherpa. Majoring in business management. Enjoys playing badminton, watching Netflix, going to the beach and public speaking. Lists meeting Tiger Woods and hitting with his driver, getting a hole-in-one while playing with Nepali professional golfers during a tournament in 2017, meeting Nancy Lopez, being the first Nepali golfer to play at the Symetra Tour, and winning her first tournament in the United States in California in 2017 as her most exciting experiences in sports. Notes she grew up with a poor background in Nepal with a passion for golf that eventually grew into a serious skill that transferred her into the United States. Says she is very honored and grateful to have the opportunity. Was featured in an ESPN documentary.
