Summary

Biography

2023: Battled through injury in her final season with the indoor program, but returned in time for the postseason for the NCAA Division II National Champions, NCAA West Region champions and California Collegiate Athletic Association co-champions. Appeared in 21 matches and 71 sets. Had 40 kills and 44 blocks. Was fifth on the team in blocks despite missing 13 matches. Had a season-high six kills against Lewis on Sept. 9. Had a season-high six blocks in a three-set win over Missouri-St. Louis in a national semifinal win on Dec. 8. Had five kills and four blocks in a four-set win over Seattle Pacific on Nov. 30 in the first round of the NCAA West Regional. Also competed for a final season with Cal State LA’s beach volleyball team in the spring (2024). Competed in 10 matches at No. 2 and No. 3 pairs with Haley Roundtree. Earned a 2023-24 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award and 2023 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition. For her career, appeared in 102 matches and 322 sets. Had 239 kills, 31 aces, 66 digs and 251 blocks. Finished her career No. 10 all-time in blocks assists with 219 and No. 11 in total blocks with 251.

2022: Showed great improvement in her third year with Cal State LA’s indoor volleyball program in the fall and was a key contributor for the NCAA Division II West Region and CCAA champions. Earned All-CCAA honorable mention recognition for the first time. Also excelled academically once again and received the CCAA’s Elite 13 Award for academic excellence after carrying the highest grade point average among CCAA Championship student-athletes for a second straight year. Also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors. Appeared in all 32 matches and all 111 sets for the Golden Eagles. Was second on the team in blocks with 104 and sixth on the team in kills with 87. Equaled a career high with seven kills in only nine swings in a three-set win over Chaminade on Sept. 2. Had a season-high seven blocks in a three-set win over Sonoma State on Oct. 15 and again in a three-set win against Cal State East Bay on Oct. 28. Had five kills in five swings to go along with four blocks in an NCAA Tournament win over Central Washington on Nov. 18. Competed for Cal State LA’s beach volleyball team in the spring (2023). Played in four matches at No. 3 pairs and six matches at No. 4 pairs. Earned a 2022-23 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award and 2022 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition.

2021: Had another strong season for the Golden Eagles in the fall. Received the CCAA’s Elite 13 Award for academic excellence after carrying the highest grade point average among CCAA Championship student-athletes. Appeared in 25 matches and 71 sets. Was fifth on the team in blocks with 52 and shared the team high in solo blocks with 14. Also had 68 kills and six service aces. Set a new career high with seven kills at Point Loma on Sept. 2 and also added five blocks to post a new career high for points with 12. Had five kills in five swings for a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage in a four-set win over Sonoma State in a CCAA Tournament first-round match on Nov. 18. Competed in beach volleyball for the Golden Eagles in the spring. Played in 13 matches. Went 1-0 at No. 2 pairs and played 12 matches at No. 3 pairs, all with Allison Linder. Earned 2021-22 CCAA All-Academic honors and also received 2021 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition.

2020: Competed for Cal State LA’s beach volleyball team in the spring and played in four matches at No. 5 pairs. Earned 2020-21 CCAA All-Academic honors and also received 2020 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition. Indoor team did not compete due to COVID-19 in the fall.

2019: Had an outstanding first season with Cal State LA’s indoor team in the fall. Appeared in 24 matches and played in a total of 69 sets. Was fourth on the team in blocks with 51. Also had 44 kills and nine service aces. Had a season-high four kills in matches at Tarleton State on Sept. 6, against Alaska Fairbanks on Sept. 12, at Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 4, and at Cal State San Marcos on Nov. 9. Had a season-high seven blocks in a four-set win at Chico State on Oct. 26. Had a season-high three service aces in a three-set win over UC San Diego on Oct. 8. Had a season-high nine blocks in that match. Earned 2019-20 CCAA All-Academic honors.

At William S. Hart High School: Earned All-CIF Division 3 honors and received All-Foothill League first team honors two years in a row. Broke the school record for most blocks in a season in back-to-back years, was the team’s Most Valuable Player twice and earned 4.0 grade point average or higher academic awards.

Personal: Daughter of Jim and Gaynor Grubbs. Graduated with a degree in communications and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in educational foundations. Enjoys thrifting and drinking coffee. Lists winning the West Regional Tournament, going to the Elite Eight during a festival season and winning the CCAA Championship as her most exciting experiences in sports.
