Cal State LA Athletics

2016: Competed for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Ran in six races. Finished 79^th at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships with a time of 28:30.5 over 8,000 meters. Wound up 156^th at the NCAA Division II West Regionals with a time of 35:49.36 over 10,000 meters. Competed for Cal State LA’s track and field team in the spring (2017). Had best times of 2:01.31 in the 800 and 4:22.44 in the 1,500.

At Warren High School: Earned the Most Improved Runner award. Had best times of 2:03 in the 800 meters, 4:28 in the 1,600 meters and 16:00 in the three-mile. Competed in cross country, track and field and wrestling.

Personal: Son of Ricardo and Suzette Pena. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys working out, listening to music and ping pong. Lists setting a personal record in his last race at league finals in high school as his most exciting experience in sports. Ran a 4:28 in the mile.
