Biography

2014: Had another outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in her final year with the track and field program. Finished fifth in the 5,000 meters in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships. Had best marks of 4:41.60 in the 1,500, 10:15.34 in the 3,000, 17:33.49 in the 5,000 and 37:25.58 in the 10,000. Also ran well during the indoor season. Had best marks of 10:39.87 in the 3,000 and 18:12.60 in the 5,000. For her career, had best marks of 2:21.28 in the 800, 4:40.37 in the 1,500, 10:14.41 in the 3,000, 17:32.94 in the 5,000 and 35:44.71 in the 10,000 in outdoor track and 10:39.87 in the 3,000 and 17:33.73 in the 5,000 in indoor track. Finished her career No. 6 all-time at Cal State L.A. in the 10,000, No. 5 all-time in the indoor 3,000, No. 6 all-time in the indoor 5,000 and No. 6 all-time as part of the distance medley team that had a best time of 13:11.12. 

2013: Had a superlative second season with the Cal State L.A. track and field team. Captured the CCAA title in the 10,000 meters and had a best time of 35:44.71, which places her No. 6 on the Cal State L.A. all-time list. Earned All-West West Region honors in that event. Also had best times of 2:21.28 in the 800, 4:40.37 in the 1,500 10:14.41 in the 3,000 and 17:32.94 in the 5,000. Also ran well in indoor track and posted an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:33.73. Earned All-CCAA honors for a third straight year for the cross country team in the fall. Had her best finish and placed fourth in the CCAA with a time of 22:26.0 over 6,000 meters. Also placed 33rd in the NCAA West Regionals. Was the team’s No. 1 runner all season and also captured the UC San Diego Opener for a second straight year with a time of 15:15.4 over a 2.5 mile course.

2012: Ran well in her debut for the Cal State L.A. track and field teams. Had the team’s best time in the 10,000 (36:41.66) and finished sixth in the CCAA. Also had best times of 10:37.83 in the 3,000 and 17:52.28 in the 5,000. Had an outstanding second season with the Cal State L.A. cross country program in the fall. Earned All-CCAA honors for a second straight year after finishing 11th in the CCAA Championships with a time of 22:26.6 over 6,000 meters. Won the UCSD Season Opener with a time of 15:07.6 over a 2.5 mile course. Placed in the top-10 in two other meets. Finished 74th in the NCAA West Regional.

2011: Had a tremendous first season for the Cal State L.A. cross country program. Earned All-CCAA honors after finishing fifth at the conference championships with a 6,000-meter time of 21:31.5. Helped the Golden Eagles to a third-place team finish. Also finished 66th in the NCAA West Regional with a time of 23:31.0. Had two other top-10 finishes during the season. Was sixth at the UC San Diego Triton Classic with a time of 22:47.1 and was eighth at the Cal State Northridge Invitational with a time of 22:17.8 Had a best 5,000-meter time of 16:37.2 at the UC San Diego Opener while finishing 16th.

At Oregon State: Made it to the NCAA Division I West Regional in cross country and also earned a scoring place at the Pacific-10 Conference Championships. Competed once in the indoor mile at the Washington Invitational for Oregon State’s Indoor Track and Field team in 2010. Competed in the 1,500 meters twice for Oregon State’s Outdoor Track and Field team in 2011. Was sixth at the Linfield Icebreaker with a time of 4:58.85. Was 27th in the 3,000 meters in the Oregon Preview with a time of 10:55.83 and had a best time of 18:13.49 in the 5,000 meters while finishing third at the John Knight Twilight.

At Cantwell Sacred Heart High School: Lettered three years in cross country and four years in track and field. Earned All-League honors in both sports. As a senior, won CIF and state titles in cross country. Was a team captain. Was a member of the Alhambra Fire Department explorer program, Letter Women, Honor Roll Society, Girls Club and was a USC Hospital volunteer. Also competed in basketball and volleyball.

Personal: Daughter of Gerardo and Esperanza Lopez. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys running, working out and reading. Lists winning races such as the 10K at Mt. San Antonio College and going to nationals as her most exciting experiences in sports. Family includes twin sister, Regina, sister, Victoria and brother, Jacob Lopez.
