SAN BERNARDINO -- The Cal State LA men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2026 seasons Saturday at the Coyote Challenge, hosted by Cal State San Bernardino.

Senior Raye Duarte led the Golden Eagle men, completing the eight-kilometer course in 26:59.4 to finish 60th overall. Dylan Atwater followed in 68th with a time of 27:17.4, while Yahir Giron placed 83rd in 27:36.4.

Demitri Hernandez crossed the finish line in 28:10.6 to place 94th, and Rohan Weerasekera rounded out Cal State LA's five scoring runners with a 98th-place time of 28:27.8. Conrad Robertson finished 101st in 28:33.4, followed by Miguel Morales Lopez in 117th at 29:35.1.

Christopher Ramirez recorded a time of 30:08.3 in his first collegiate race, while Antonio Mendoza-Lopez completed the course in 30:42.9.

The Golden Eagle men finished 10th among 13 scoring teams with 289 points and an average time of 27:42. Cal Poly Pomona won the men's team title with 27 points.

On the women's side, junior Mikaela Holguin paced Cal State LA over the six-kilometer course. Holguin placed 74th overall with a time of 23:06.9.

Juanita Parr was the Golden Eagles' second finisher, placing 143rd in 25:55.1. Senior Miyoko Mataalii followed closely in 146th with a time of 26:00.7.

Noemy Escamilla completed her first collegiate race in 28:04.1, placing 164th. Jasmine Trujillo finished 172nd in 29:37.8, and Jaqueline Monray rounded out the Cal State LA contingent with a time of 31:56.7.

The Golden Eagle women placed 13th among 14 scoring teams with 401 points and an average time of 26:32. Cal Poly Pomona also captured the women's team championship, scoring 27 points. The Golden Eagles will return to action Saturday during the Biola Invitational.
