LOS ANGELES --Â Four different players found the back of the net as Cal State LA rolled to a 4-0 victory over Vanguard on Saturday at University Stadium.
Jose Mariscal, Emil Kischka, Jacob Cervantes and Taito Yoshihara each scored for the Golden Eagles, while Abraham Ramirez made two saves to record the shutout.
Cal State LA took the lead in the 10th minute when Oscar Haglund set up Mariscal for the opening goal. The Golden Eagles continued to control the first half and doubled their advantage at the 31:27 mark when Kischka scored to make it 2-0.
Ramirez preserved the two-goal lead shortly before halftime, stopping Giancarlo Romero's shot in the 42nd minute. Cal State LA entered the break with a 7-1 advantage in shots and a 3-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Golden Eagles added two more goals during a five-minute stretch in the second half. Geovanni Antuna assisted Cervantes in the 66th minute, extending the lead to 3-0.
Yoshihara completed the scoring at the 70:27 mark, converting an opportunity created by Saad Faiz to give Cal State LA a commanding four-goal advantage.
Vanguard managed only one shot in each half. Ramirez turned away Kevin Abarca's attempt in the 60th minute and the Golden Eagle defense did not allow another shot over the final 30 minutes.
Cal State LA finished with a 13-2 advantage in total shots, a 9-2 edge in shots on goal and a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Golden Eagles also committed only six fouls compared with 12 for Vanguard.
Mariscal and Kischka recorded two shots apiece, while Yoshihara and Orlando Erazo also attempted two shots each. Haglund, Antuna and Faiz supplied Cal State LA's three assists.
The victory improved Cal State LA to 2-0 on the season, while Vanguard fell to 0-2. The Golden Eagles will welcome Regis to University Stadium on Thursday starting at 7 p.m.
