DOWNEY -- After another successful fall season, Cal State LA's women's golf team is set to kick off its spring season by hosting a tournament.

The second edition of the LA Spring Kickoff begins on Monday at the Rio Hondo Golf Club in Downey with the first 36 holes of a two-day, 54-hole tournament. The Golden Eagles finished second in their own tournament last season in a 36-hole tourney.

Thirteen of the top teams in the West Region will tee it up on Monday with a shotgun start scheduled for 7 a.m. The tourney will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday in a shotgun format with all players teeing off at 8 a.m.

Cal State LA will be represented by Joshlyn Ayala, Talia Gutman, Daniela Andrade, Sarah Amaya, Rilee Crosby and Lisette Orellana. Ayala was fifth in this tournament last year.

The Golden Eagles will be joined by fellow CCAA teams Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay along with Western Washington, Hawaii-Hilo, Point Loma, Seattle Pacific, Westmont, Dominican, Jessup, Menlo, Vanguard and Western New Mexico.

The Golden Eagles enter the spring ranked 37th in the nation in the NCAA's SCOREBOARD rankings. Cal State LA finished third in the Swan Memorial, second in the RJGA Shootout, second in the West Region Preview and third in the East Bay Fall Invitational in its four fall events.

Ayala finished in the top-10 in all four events and in the top-five in three of them. Gutman had a pair of top-five finishes and set a new program record with a round of 66 at the East Bay Fall Invitational. Andrade and Crosby each had one top-10 finish.
