Cal State LA's Jose Mariscal has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 5-11.
Mariscal led the Golden Eagles offense this week, scoring two goals across two victories. Against Cal State East Bay, Mariscal helped LA secure a 2-1 win before delivering a clutch performance Sunday against Cal State San Marcos, scoring both goals in a critical 2-1 victory to keep them unbeaten.
The Golden Eagles were off to a slow start before the senior forward entered the match at halftime, and quickly made his presence felt. Just eight minutes into the second half, Mariscal struck the back of the net in the 53rd minute to give the team a 1-0 lead. After Cal State San Marcos evened the score, Mariscal quickly delivered again, scoring the game-winning goal in the 78th minute to secure the 2-1 victory.
The Whittier, Calif., native now ranks first in game-winning goals (4), first in shots (41) and fourth in goals (7) in the CCAA. Click here to see the complete CCAA stats leaders.
