Golden Eagles Share Second After Opening Round

LAKEWOOD, COLORADO -- Cal State LA's women's golf team finds itself right in the mix in the Golden Eagles' opening tournament of the 2025-26 season.

The Golden Eagles are tied for second with Colorado Christian, four shots behind leader Colorado State Pueblo after the first round of the Swam Memorial. Cal State LA shot an opening round of 11-over-par 299 at the Broadlands Golf Course.

Colorado State Pueblo leads with a first-day total of 295.

Joshlyn Ayala had the low round of the day for the Golden Eagles and is tied for fourth following a round of 1-over-par 73. 
She is just one shot out of second and three shots behind leader Kenzie Schroeder of South Dakota Mines. Ayala birdied the opening hole, but had bogeys on the third, eighth and ninth hole to make the turn at 2-over-par 38. She then shot 1-under-par on the back nine with birdies on the par-3 12th hole and the par-4 16th hole sandwiched around a bogey on the 14th.

Sarah Amaya was next for the Golden Eagles and is in a tie for seventh following a 2-over-par 74. She had three bogeys and one birdie, which came on the par-4 11th hole. She leads the tournament field with 14 pars after the opening round.

Newcomer Talia Gutman is tied for 10th after an opening round of 3-over-par 75. She was even-par through nine holes after a birdie on the par-4 first hole and she finished strong with birdies on the 15th and 18th holes to move into the top-10.

Daniela Andrade was next for the Golden Eagles and is tied for 21st following an opening-round of 5-over-par 77. She had one birdie on her round, at the par-5 15th hole.

Newcomer Lisette Orellana is tied for 31st after an opening round of 7-over-par 79. She got her Cal State LA career off to a blazing start with a birdie on her first hole.

Cal State LA leads the field with 60 pars and was fourth with nine birdies.

The Golden Eagles will conclude play in the two-day tournament on Tuesday.
