Cal State LA Athletics develops and serves student-athletes through a culture of academic and athletic excellence. The Golden Eagles sponsor 14 NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports including baseball, women's volleyball, women's tennis and both men's and women's teams in basketball, cross country, soccer and track and field. Through our commitment to engagement, service and the public good, we generate support, pride and national exposure for the University. The departmental mission rests on five core values:
  1. Academic Excellence: providing the necessary resources to allow student-athletes to perform, achieve and excel in their academic endeavors
  2. Student-Athlete Welfare: creating a culture that fosters personal growth and instills leadership skills in student-athletes
  3. Compliance: monitoring NCAA, CCAA and University rules and regulations to protect Cal State LA and its constituents
  4. Fiscal Soundness: ensuring all expenditures are made with the best interest of the student-athletes and the greater campus community
  5. Championships: competing at the highest level and winning conference and national championships
The Golden Eagles have enjoyed legendary success over the years, including recent historic accomplishments. The men's soccer team earned the program's first national championship in 2021 and, most recently, the women's volleyball team won its first-ever national title in 2023. Cal State LA won the first-ever California Collegiate Athletic Association President's Cup in the 2023-24 academic year by earning the most points among conference members in the national LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings that awards points for success in NCAA Tournaments.

Cal State LA has won nine team national championships, earned 11 national runner-up finishes and captured 96 individual national championships.

A proud member of the CCAA, the Golden Eagles have won 85 conference titles, including 50 as a member of the CCAA.

Thank you for your support and Happy Tuesday!
