LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's men's soccer team was seemingly headed for a much-needed California Collegiate Athletic Association victory on Sunday, but visiting Cal Poly Humboldt had other ideas.
The Golden Eagles saw a 2-0 lead evaporate in the final 12 minutes and had to settle for a 2-2 draw in University Stadium. Cal State LA (6-3-5, 3-3-1 CCAA) picked up one point with the tie and now has 10 points, which leaves the Golden Eagles in fifth place in the conference with three matches remaining. The top six teams will advance to the conference tournament.

The Golden Eagles were unable to add a third goal despite several chances, but still seemed to have things in hand before a breakdown led to a 2-on-1 counterattack for Cal Poly Humboldt in the 79th minute. Lucas Carballo made a long run into the zone with only one defender back and slid a pass to Luke Gomes, who finished to the left post to make it 2-1.
Then, after a foul in the middle of the field just outside of the box, Shota Lam drilled in the equalizer in the 88th minute.
