SAN BERNARDINO -- Cal State LA's baseball team was unable to come up with a seres-evening victory Sunday in the finale of a four-game California Collegiate Athletic Association series against Cal State San Bernardino.
The Golden Eagles managed only three hits and were blanked by the Coyotes, 9-0, Sunday at Fiscalini Field. Cal State LA (12-10) fell behind 5-0 after two innings and never recovered.Â
The Golden Eagles got hits from
Kadyn Victorian, Anthony Angel Jr. and
Elijah Jackson.
Cal State San Bernardino (12-12, 5-9 CCAA) got eight shutout innings from Benny Olguin and a home run from Jacob Mejia.
Miles Halliagan got the start for the Golden Eagles and gave up two hits and two earned runs through two innings. He walked four.
Joel Martinez, who got the save in Saturday's win, allowed three hits and two runs over 2 1/3 innings and
Anthony Diaz gave up three hits and two runs over 2 1/3 innings as well.
Moises Escobedo got the final out in the seventh inning without incident and
Kai Penuelas tossed a scoreless inning to finish up.
Cal State LA will return to action on Friday with the opener of a four-game series against Chico State at 6 p.m. at Reeder Field.
