Shelby Melin and recorded a 1-0 win over the Toros (1-4-1) Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park. The Golden Eagles earned wins over Concordia, Biola and Cal State Dominguez Hills and ties against Point Loma and Azusa Pacific in their first six games. The only blemish was a hard-fought 1-0 decision at defending national champion Western Washington.
Cal State LA controlled most of the game against an improved Cal State Dominguez Hills squad on Saturday, but had difficulty finishing their changes. The Golden Eagles had a 23-7 advantage in shots, including a 14-3 edge in the second half.

Liliana Gonzalez, but she was taken down and a penalty kick awarded. Melin converted for her first goal of the season and the fourth of her career, including the third game-winner.
The Golden Eagles continued their pressure throughout the game and very nearly made it 2-0 in the final 10 minutes.
