No. 4 Golden Eagles Run Winning Streak To Seven

ROHNERT PARK -- Cal State LA's men's soccer team ran its winning streak to seven on Friday with a big road win against Sonoma State and moved closer to clinching the California Collegiate Athletic Association regular-season title.

The No. 4 Golden Eagles blanked the Seawolves, 3-0, at Sunrise Park by scoring twice in the first half and once more in the second. Cal State LA (13-1-1, 8-1 CCAA) now has 24 points in conference play and will have at least a four-point lead pending results later Friday with two games remaining.

The Golden Eagles got first-half goals from Oscar Warne and Carl Solli and a second-half goal from Bryan Ortega in the victory. Cal State LA's defense was superb once again, allowing no shots in the second half and just six for the game. Julian Aadlandsvik made three saves to pick up the team's 11th shutout of the season.

Cal State LA had a 7-6 advantage in shots for the game and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Sonoma State took the first two shots of the game that were both saved by Aadlandsvik, but Warne opened the scoring in the 11th minute with his second goal of the season. Rene Cortez picked up the assist, his first of the season. Cortez was making his first start of the season on Friday.

Solli, returning to action, made it 2-0 in the 38th minute with his second goal of the season. Assists were picked up by Steve Perez and Sergio Vega. Solli picked up the 14th goal of his Cal State LA career. Perez picked up his second assist of the season and Vega picked up his third.

Ortega, who leads the Golden Eagles in scoring, made it 3-0 early in the second half. He now has eight goals on the season, three in the past two games and 14 in his Cal State LA career. He has 20 points on the season.
