LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's soccer team had five players selected to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II All-West Region Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Areli Reyes earned first-team honors, defender Jaclyn Orozco earned second-team honors and midfielder Liliana Gonzalez, defender Thaiz Hernandez and forward Melody Landphear received third-team recognition in voting by the region's coaches. A total of 33 student-athletes, 11 on each team, were selected.

Reyes was one of three players from the California Collegiate Athletic Association to earn first-team honors. She was joined on the first team by Stanislaus State's Sabrina Cabrera and Alexis Brewah.

The United Soccer Coaches' All-Region teams are the second to be announced this year. Previously, Reyes, Orozco and Gonzalez all earned second-team All-West Region honors from the D2 Conference Commissioners Association.

Cal State LA enjoyed an outstanding season, highlighted by the program's first California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament championship since 2014. The Golden Eagles finished the season with an 11-3-6 record and recorded their most wins since 2014. The Golden Eagles also had 13 shutouts, which was among the nation's leaders.

Reyes, in her second season with the Golden Eagles, had a fantastic year. She was the CCAA Goalkeeper of the Year and earned first-team All-CCAA honors for the first time. She was named to the CCAA All-Tournament Team after recording shutouts over Cal Poly Pomona, Stanislaus State and Sonoma State. She finished the season tied for third in the nation with 13 shutouts. Reyes earned All-CCAA and All-West Region honors for the first time in 2022.

Orozco spearheaded a Cal State LA defense that was among the best in the country. She started all 20 games for the Golden Eagles and was a leader in minutes played. She earned first-team All-CCAA honors and was the CCAA Tournament's Most Valuable Defensive Player while leading Golden Eagles to the tournament title. Orozco earned All-CCAA and All-Region honors this season for the first time in her second season with the program.

Gonzalez was also outstanding in her second season with the Golden Eagles. She led the team in scoring with six goals and two assists for 14 points and she led the CCAA with five game-winning goals. She earned first-team All-CCAA honors and also made the CCAA All-Tournament Team after helping the No. 3 seed Golden Eagles beat No. 6 seed Cal Poly Pomona, No. 2 seed Stanislaus State and No. 1 seed Sonoma State for the tournament title. Gonzalez earned All-CCAA honorable mention last year as a freshman and earned All-Region honors this season for the first time.

Hernandez was a key part of Cal State LA's sensational defense and earned All-Region honors for the first time after her second season with the program. She started all 21 games for the Golden Eagles and was third on the team in minutes played with 1,795. She was third on the team in scoring with three goals and six points.

Landphear also had a great year for the Golden Eagles in her second season with the program. She scored the biggest goal of the season, the lone tally in a 1-0 victory over Sonoma State in the CCAA Tournament championship game. She also assisted on Kaelah Basurto's game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Stanislaus State in the semifinals. Landphear was second on the team in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points. She also earned All-CCAA honorable mention for a second consecutive season.
