Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Golden Eagles Fall Short Against Humboldt State

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's soccer team surrendered a first-half goal and never could get untracked in a loss to Humboldt State on Friday.

The Golden Eagles were limited to just nine shots in a supreme defensive battle and fell to the 'Jacks, 1-0, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association contest. Cal State LA (4-2-1, 1-1-1 CCAA) lost for the first time in three conference matches, while Humboldt State (3-3-1, 1-2 CCAA) was victorious for the first time in three CCAA contests.

The only goal of the game came in the 31st minute when Humboldt State hit with a quick strike. Sabine Postman set up teammate Alex Jenkins for her team-leading fifth goal of the season. Postman sent a long clearance out of the 'Jacks zone and Jenkins was able to split a pair of Cal State LA defenders and control the ball on the run. She was able to fire a shot from an angle to the far post for the lone tally of the contest.

Cal State LA goalkeeper Adriana Maldonado had another strong game for the Golden Eagles and made four saves. She was also aggressive knocking down Humboldt State crosses to keep her team in the game.

Humboldt State goalkeeper Nora Goodrie made one save for the shutout for the 'Jacks.

Humboldt State finished with an 11-9 advantage in shots and both teams had three corner kicks.

Tatiana Zuvic had three shots to lead Cal State LA, while Madison Mader had two. Meranda Salazar had the lone shot on goal for the Golden Eagles.

Cal State LA will return to action on Sunday with a home game against Sonoma State at 2 p.m.
