LA JOLLA -- Cal State LA's women's team kept it scoreless for a half in Friday's California Collegiate Athletic Association match against No. 11 UC San Diego, but the second half didn't go as well.
The Golden Eagles, who had surrendered only six goals all season entering Friday's game, gave up three in the second half and fell to the Tritons, 3-0, at Triton Soccer Stadium. Cal State LA (8-4-2, 4-3-2 CCAA) remains in sixth place in the CCAA with three matches remaining, while UC San Diego (13-1-1, 8-1 CCAA) moves into first place in the conference.
The top six teams will qualify for the CCAA Tournament.
UC San Diego had a 21-5 advantage in shots, including an 11-3 edge in the second half when the Tritons scored all three of their goals.
Cal State LA had a five-match unbeaten streak broken. The Golden Eagles were 4-0-1 over the past five games with four shutouts. Cal State LA hadn't allowed more than one goal in a match this season.
Adriana Maldonado made five saves for the Golden Eagles, while Katie Wilkes made two saves for the Tritons.
Mary Reilly, who leads the CCAA in goals with 12, scored a pair of goals in a nine-minute span of the second half. She also assisted on Megumi Barber's goal in the 67th minute.
Tatiana Zuvic had two shots for the Golden Eagles, while
Yaqualin Garcia,
Leslie Ramirez and
Kimberly Surio had one shot each.
Cal State LA will return to action on Sunday with a road match at Cal State San Marcos.Â
