Golden Eagles End Regular Season On Senior Night

LOS ANGELES – Cal State LA's women's volleyball team wanted a positive result for its four outgoing seniors Saturday night, but Chico State refused to let that happen.

The Golden Eagles took the first set, but the Wildcats stormed back to take a 17-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-17 victory in University Gym. Cal State LA (15-10, 11-6 CCAA) held a pregame ceremony for seniors JamieAnn Bero, Chloe Clancy, Lauren Gomez and Taylor Kushner.

Chico State (21-6, 15-3 CCAA) put the finishing touches on its CCAA North Division crown, while Cal State LA hopes to hit the reset button at next week's CCAA Championship Tournament. Pairings for the eight-team tournament were announced later on Saturday and the Golden Eagles will face Sonoma State in a first-round match on Thursday at 5 p.m..

Cal State LA took a brief lead in the second set at 5-3 after a kill by Kushner, but Chico State went on a 14-4 run to take control. The Wildcats eventually closed out the set on an ace by Shannon Cotton.
