LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A's women's soccer team settled for a tie Wednesday night in a non-conference game against Hawaii-Hilo in a game where both sides had golden opportunities to pick up a victory.

Anahie Duran in the 71
st minute and then survived when a Hawaii-Hilo penalty kick try sailed high and wide in the first overtime of a 1-1 tie at Jesse Owens Track. Cal State L.A. (3-5-3) saw its three-game shutout streak come to an end, but ran its unbeaten streak to four matches.
Hawaii-Hilo (3-1-3) got its three-game road trip off to a promising start with the tie.
Cal State L.A. had a 19-10 advantage in shots and a whopping 14-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Hawaii-Hilo played a pair of goalkeepers. Kayla Clarke made three saves in the first half and Tiani Teanio made four saves in the second half and overtimes.

Adriana Maldonado made four saves for the Golden Eagles.
Both teams had chances to win it in overtime.
Hawaii Hilo had the best chance when it was awarded a penalty kick in the 96
th minute, but Danika Steele's attempt was high and wide and the game continued.
Cal State L.A. had a couple of close-range bids go awry moments earlier when
Ashli Villalobos had a close shot saved by Teanio and
Victoria Arredondo had an outstanding look go wide.

Veronika Steen took a well-struck shot that hit the crossbar in the final seconds of the game and just stayed out as the clock ran out.
The Golden Eagles also had a dangerous corner kick in the final seconds of the first overtime and an apparent goal in the first half by
Katarina Karabetsos waved off because of a foul.
There were two goals that did count and both came in the second half.
Hawaii-Hilo took a 1-0 lead in the 49
th minute when Leighana Weaver hit a perfectly-placed shot while sliding that snuck inside the far post for her first goal of the season. Steele had the assist with a nice cross into the box.
Duran, though, tied it in the 71
st minute with a penalty kick goal. She was fouled into the post during a Cal State L.A. corner kick to earn the penalty kick.
Cal State L.A. will return to conference play on Sunday against Chico State in the Golden Eagles' final home game of the season. It is also Senior Day and the Golden Eagles will honor their four seniors in pregame ceremonies.
