LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.'s women's basketball team sent its four seniors off on a winning note in the Golden Eagles' regular-season home finale Saturday night.
The Golden Eagles bounced back from Friday's loss to Chico State with a wire-to-wire 70-46 California Collegiate Athletic Association win over Cal State Stanislaus in the Eagles Nest. Cal State L.A. (15-9, 13-7 CCAA) pulled into a three-way tie for third place in the conference with the victory. The top four teams will host first-round CCAA Championship Tournament games.
The Golden Eagles, ranked fifth in the NCAA West Region rankings, built a 33-18 lead by halftime and maintained comfortable margins in the second half. Cal State L.A. led by double-digit margins for the final 31 minutes of the contest.
Samantha Hansen scored 16 points to lead the Golden Eagles, while
Lacey Gibbons added 15 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting performance.
Lacy Ramon had nine points and
Erika Ruiz scored eight points.
Cal State Stanislaus (6-18, 3-17 CCAA) got 12 points and five rebounds from Erin Godde and 11 points and six rebounds from Jameiz Terrell.
Cal State L.A. shot 47.5 percent from the floor (29-of-61) and limited Cal State Stanislaus to just 24.6 percent (14-of-57).
The Golden Eagles enjoyed a 41-31 rebounding edge and forced 23 turnovers while committing 15.
Cal State L.A. got contributions from all 14 players who saw time on the court.
The Golden Eagles scored the first six points of the game and never looked back. Hansen had the first two baskets of the game and a jumper by
Tessondra Williams gave the Golden Eagles a quick 6-2 lead. The Warriors closed to within two points at 13-11 after a 3-pointer by Erin Godde, but the Golden Eagles responded with a 10-0 run to open up a 23-11 advantage. Ramon scored eight points during the run.
Terrell hit a 3-pointer to make it 23-14, but Cal State L.A. scored the next eight points to open up a 17-point edge at 31-14 following a basket by Hansen.
Cal State L.A. hit all four of their 3-pointers in the second half, three of them by Gibbons.
Amanda Deal also hit a 3-pointer for the Golden Eagles.

Cal State L.A. will close out the regular season with road games at Cal Poly Pomona on Wednesday and San Francisco State on Friday.
